Kolkata, November 21 — Tremors were felt across several districts of West Bengal after a 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh on Friday afternoon. The quake, recorded at moderate intensity, caused panic among residents in Kolkata and adjoining areas.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter was located in southeastern Bangladesh. The tremors were experienced in parts of North and South Bengal, prompting people to rush out of homes and offices as a precaution.
Officials said no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received from West Bengal. Disaster management teams have been placed on alert, and monitoring is underway to assess any impact in border districts.
