The PM SVANidhi scheme has completed six years of implementation on June 1, 2026, marking a major milestone in supporting India’s street vendors.
Launched in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheme has disbursed over 1.12 crore collateral-free loans worth ₹17,800 crore, benefiting more than 75 lakh vendors nationwide.
Nearly 55 lakh vendors have been digitally onboarded, conducting over 841 crore transactions worth ₹8.96 lakh crore, with ₹800 crore given as cashback and interest subsidies.
Women account for 46% of beneficiaries, while around 70% belong to marginalized communities, highlighting the scheme’s inclusive reach.
Loan tranches of ₹15,000, ₹25,000, and ₹50,000 have enabled vendors to expand businesses, with progressive interest subsidies encouraging repayment and digital adoption.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the scheme as a symbol of trust, dignity, and empowerment, while leaders across states praised its role in boosting self-employment and financial inclusion.
The scheme has now been extended until March 2030 with an outlay of ₹7,332 crore, aiming to benefit 1.15 crore vendors, including 50 lakh new entrants.
With UPI-linked RuPay Credit Cards and training for over 6 lakh street food vendors, PM SVANidhi continues to reshape India’s informal urban economy.
