The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dense fog conditions today, January 19, 2026, across Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab. Visibility is expected to remain severely reduced during early morning and late-night hours, impacting road, rail, and air travel in the region.
Officials noted that cold wave conditions are persisting in parts of North India, including Himachal Pradesh, while minimum temperatures in Delhi and NCR are hovering around 6–7°C. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain near 18°C, below seasonal averages.
The IMD further indicated that dense fog is also likely in Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. A gradual rise of 2–3°C in minimum temperatures is expected in East India over the next three days, offering slight relief from prevailing cold conditions.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during travel, particularly in the early morning and late-night hours, and to stay updated with official advisories. The IMD emphasized that safety measures such as using fog lights, reducing speed, and checking flight and train schedules are essential during this period of reduced visibility.
