Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra finished second at the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland with a season-best throw of 88.05 metres.
Chopra moved into the lead with his second-round effort, but Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage overtook him with a throw of 88.14 metres in the third round. Pathirage held on to the lead to win the competition.
Chopra’s 88.05-metre effort was his best throw of the season and marked his return to the 88-metre range. His performance provided a major boost ahead of the upcoming competitions.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished third with a best throw of 86.69 metres, completing the podium at the Lausanne Diamond League.
The result added another chapter to the growing rivalry between Chopra and Pathirage, with the Sri Lankan athlete once again finishing ahead of the Indian Olympic champion.
