India and China have agreed to continue efforts towards a political settlement of the long-standing boundary question, keeping in view their overall and long-term interests.
The understanding was reached during the 25th round of Special Representatives’ talks on the India-China Boundary Question in Beijing, co-chaired by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Both sides held candid and in-depth discussions on the boundary issue and highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas for the continued development of bilateral relations.
The two countries also reviewed progress in implementing the consensus reached by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meetings in Kazan in October 2024 and Tianjin in August 2025. They noted the steady resumption of people-to-people and cross-border exchanges, including the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra and border trade.
India and China agreed to continue dialogue through established channels and work towards a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable settlement of the boundary question while safeguarding peace and stability along the border.
