The Delhi Government is exploring a collaboration with IIT Kanpur to develop an AI-enabled pollution control system aimed at improving the capital’s air quality.
The proposed system will integrate hyperlocal monitoring, sensor networks, and satellite data to identify pollution sources at a granular level and enable precise interventions.
Officials stated that the initiative will bring multiple departments, civic agencies, and NCR districts onto a common data platform, ensuring coordinated enforcement and accountability.
The AI-based framework is expected to shift pollution control from reactive measures to proactive, real-time interventions, targeting pollution at its source.
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa emphasized that the system will ensure measurable improvements in air quality throughout the year and serve as a model for other Indian cities.
The collaboration highlights the government’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology for sustainable urban management and public health protection.
