New Delhi, November 5, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a nationwide celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’, with special programmes scheduled at 150 locations of national significance starting November 7.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the central event at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, where ‘Vande Mataram’ will be sung collectively. Other prominent venues include the Kargil War Memorial, Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Swaraj Ashram in Odisha, Shaheed Smarak Park in Agra, and Namo Ghat in Varanasi.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh stated that the celebrations will continue until Constitution Day on November 26, featuring recitations, cultural performances, and public pledges to promote indigenous products. The initiative aims to rekindle the spirit of nationalism and honor the song’s legacy as a symbol of India’s freedom movement.
In West Bengal alone, events are planned at over 1,100 locations, while Odisha will host programmes in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Rourkela, Balasore, and Keonjhar. Each event will include speeches, musical tributes, and community participation to highlight the historical and cultural significance of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The BJP has called on citizens to join the celebrations and reaffirm their commitment to national unity and cultural pride.
