Industrialist Anil Ambani was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi in connection with an alleged Rs 2,929 crore cheating case filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) against Reliance Communications Ltd. The case involves charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and breach of trust, with allegations of fund diversion and misappropriation of loan funds.
The questioning took place at the CBI headquarters, where Ambani appeared to cooperate with investigators. His spokesperson stated that he is extending full support to the agency and is committed to clarifying the matter.
The case stems from loans issued more than a decade ago to Reliance Communications, which later faced financial distress and insolvency proceedings. SBI, as the lead lender, filed a complaint citing serious irregularities in the usage of borrowed funds, leading to the registration of a CBI FIR in August 2025.
