A Delhi court has sent Al-Falah Group chairman to judicial custody in connection with a second case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sought custody citing ongoing investigations into alleged financial irregularities and money laundering activities linked to the group. The court, however, remanded the chairman to judicial custody after hearing arguments from both sides.
This marks the second PMLA case against the Al-Falah Group chief, intensifying legal troubles for the business conglomerate. The ED has alleged that the group was involved in layering illicit funds through shell companies and fraudulent transactions.
The chairman was earlier questioned in a separate PMLA case, and investigators claim fresh evidence has emerged, prompting the new proceedings.
The case underscores the ED’s continued crackdown on financial crimes and highlights the judiciary’s role in ensuring accountability in high-profile corporate investigations.
