External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has emphasized that India and the United States have a strong and shared interest in combating terrorism in all its forms. Speaking at a joint press interaction following high-level talks, Jaishankar underlined that both nations view terrorism as a grave threat to international peace and security.
He noted that India and the US continue to collaborate closely on counter-terrorism initiatives, intelligence sharing, and capacity building. Jaishankar stressed that the partnership is not limited to bilateral cooperation but extends to multilateral platforms where both countries advocate for stronger global action against terror networks.
The Minister highlighted that terrorism remains one of the most pressing challenges in South Asia and beyond, and reaffirmed India’s commitment to working with the US to dismantle terror infrastructure and prevent radicalization. He added that the two nations are aligned in their determination to ensure accountability for those who sponsor or support terrorism.
US officials echoed Jaishankar’s remarks, reiterating Washington’s support for India’s efforts to strengthen regional security and stability. The discussions also touched upon broader strategic cooperation, including defense, technology, and economic ties, with counter-terrorism identified as a key pillar of the partnership.
Observers see the statement as a reaffirmation of the growing convergence between New Delhi and Washington on security issues, particularly at a time when global terror threats continue to evolve in complexity and reach.
