Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that Indian agencies have achieved the first-ever seizure of Captagon drug worth ₹182 crore through a coordinated operation named Operation RAGEPILL. This marks a historic breakthrough in India’s fight against narcotics trafficking and organized crime.
Officials revealed that the operation was carried out after extensive intelligence gathering and cross-agency coordination, leading to the interception of the synthetic stimulant, often referred to as the “party drug” in international markets. The seizure highlights India’s growing capability to tackle complex drug networks with precision and efficiency.
Amit Shah emphasized that the government is committed to dismantling drug cartels and preventing the spread of synthetic narcotics that pose a grave threat to youth and society. He noted that the success of Operation RAGEPILL reinforces India’s resolve to achieve the national goal of a Drug-Free India by 2047.
Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the international links of the syndicate involved, ensuring accountability and deterrence against future attempts to smuggle Captagon into India.
