External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India-Bangladesh relations must be based on mutual interests, mutual respect and reciprocity. He stressed that India wants positive, constructive and forward-looking ties with Bangladesh.
Jaishankar said any bilateral relationship can work effectively only when it serves the interests of both countries. He said India remains committed to engaging with Bangladesh while seeking a relationship based on mutuality of interests and reciprocity.
The External Affairs Minister also highlighted the wider geopolitical and economic challenges facing countries around the world. He said nations need to reduce vulnerabilities, diversify partnerships and prepare themselves for possible disruptions.
Jaishankar further emphasised the importance of strengthening India’s domestic capabilities while maintaining engagement with major global economies. He said India needs to build greater economic resilience and ensure that its external partnerships support the country’s long-term interests.
