The European Union has included India in its revised draft list for continued export of aquaculture products to the EU market, ensuring uninterrupted access for Indian seafood exporters. The decision, announced on May 15, 2026, reflects India’s compliance with EU food safety and sustainability standards, strengthening its position as a leading supplier of aquaculture products.
Officials stated that the revised draft list covers countries meeting stringent EU requirements on traceability, hygiene, and environmental sustainability. India’s inclusion will allow exporters to continue shipping shrimp, fish, and other aquaculture products without disruption, supporting livelihoods across coastal states.
The move comes after months of technical consultations between India’s Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and EU regulators. India has implemented stricter monitoring systems, enhanced certification processes, and improved cold-chain infrastructure to align with EU norms.
