Security forces in Jammu carried out a joint anti-terror exercise at the historic Raghunath Mandir ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, simulating a high-risk attack scenario to test preparedness and rapid response.
The drill involved the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu & Kashmir Police and the National Security Guard (NSG), focusing on hostage rescue, casualty evacuation, and area domination tactics.
Officials stated that the exercise was aimed at validating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), strengthening inter-agency coordination, and ensuring readiness against possible terror threats during the pilgrimage.
The Amarnath Yatra, beginning on July 3, will see deployment of over 670 CAPF companies, anti-drone systems, and multiple security drills at sensitive locations to safeguard lakhs of pilgrims.
Authorities emphasized that such exercises build public confidence, demonstrate professionalism, and reinforce India’s commitment to multi-layered security during the annual pilgrimage.
