Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday reviewed the security arrangements and preparations for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra amid heavy rainfall across several parts of the region. He took stock of the situation and directed officials to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims.
During the review, the Lieutenant Governor was briefed by senior officials about the prevailing weather conditions, security deployment, road connectivity, medical facilities and other arrangements along the pilgrimage routes. He emphasised the need for close coordination among all agencies to handle any emergency situation effectively.
The administration has been closely monitoring the impact of heavy rains and changing weather conditions in the region. Officials have been instructed to remain alert and take timely measures to prevent any inconvenience to pilgrims travelling to the holy cave shrine.
LG Sinha stressed that the safety of devotees remains the top priority and directed authorities to ensure proper arrangements for shelter, healthcare, traffic management and rescue operations wherever required.
Security forces and civil administration teams have been deployed along the yatra routes to maintain smooth movement of pilgrims and respond quickly to any challenges caused by adverse weather conditions.
The annual Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of devotees from across the country, and authorities have been taking additional precautions this year in view of weather-related challenges and security concerns.
