India has dispatched a second tranche of medical assistance to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) to support the ongoing Ebola response. The consignment includes essential medicines, protective equipment, and critical healthcare supplies aimed at strengthening treatment facilities and safeguarding frontline workers.
Officials said the aid reflects India’s commitment to global health solidarity and builds on its earlier emergency support sent to affected regions. The supplies are expected to bolster Africa CDC’s capacity in managing patients, preventing transmission, and coordinating with local health authorities.
The move comes as Ebola cases continue to challenge health systems in parts of Africa, with international agencies stressing the need for sustained cooperation and resource-sharing. India’s contribution has been welcomed as a timely boost to containment efforts and a reaffirmation of its role as a reliable partner in global health crises.
Diplomatic sources noted that the assistance also highlights India’s broader vision of South–South cooperation, where developing nations extend support to each other in times of emergency.
