French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France and the United Kingdom will jointly launch a workshop to coordinate security guarantees for Ukraine, with close involvement from the United States. The announcement followed a videoconference of the “Coalition of the Willing,” attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Macron stated that the coming days will be used to define the contributions of countries prepared to provide guarantees once a ceasefire is reached. He emphasized that the Ukrainian army remains the first line of security for the nation, while international partners will work to establish credible assurances for long-term stability.
The workshop will involve France, the UK, the U.S., Turkey, and other European Union members, reflecting a broad coalition committed to supporting Ukraine. Macron also noted that EU countries are finalizing a plan to provide financial assistance, including the possible use of frozen Russian assets.
France and Britain have further indicated that a multinational force could be considered as part of post-war security arrangements, underscoring their determination to ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty and peace.
The initiative highlights the growing diplomatic momentum to secure Ukraine’s future, combining military, financial, and political measures to maintain pressure on Russia and support a credible peace framework.
