The Government of India has clarified that the country is importing crude oil from as many as 40 nations, including Iran, and dismissed reports suggesting disruptions in payments related to these imports. Officials emphasized that India’s crude oil supply chain remains stable and diversified, ensuring energy security for the nation.
According to the clarification, India’s crude oil basket includes supplies from countries across the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. The government underscored that this wide sourcing strategy helps maintain resilience against global market fluctuations and geopolitical challenges.
Reports had recently suggested that payment-related issues were affecting crude oil imports from Iran. However, the government categorically refuted these claims, stating that transactions are being managed effectively and that there is no disruption in the procurement process.
India, one of the world’s largest importers of crude oil, continues to prioritize energy security by diversifying its sources and strengthening international partnerships. The clarification aims to reassure stakeholders that the country’s energy needs are being met without interruption.
