Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has departed on January 4, 2026, for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the first leg of his overseas tour that will also include Sri Lanka.
During the two-day UAE visit, General Dwivedi is scheduled to hold wide-ranging talks with the country’s top military leadership, including Major General Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of UAE Land Forces. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, joint training, and operational exchanges.
On arrival, General Dwivedi was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the UAE Land Forces, reflecting the importance of the visit and the growing defence partnership between India and the UAE.
The visit comes close on the heels of the recently concluded India–UAE joint military exercise “Desert Cyclone-II,” underscoring the shared commitment to enhancing interoperability and trust between the two armies.
General Dwivedi’s engagements in the UAE highlight India’s strategic outreach in West Asia, reinforcing cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as counter-terrorism, maritime security, and defence technology exchange.
