New Delhi, November 3 — The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Tuesday unveiled three artificial intelligence foundation models developed by Indian companies with support from the IndiaAI Mission. Soket Labs developed EKA-1, while ZenteiQ developed Dhīr 2B and Dhīr 5B.
EKA-1 supports English and all 22 scheduled Indian languages. The model has 26.3 billion parameters and was trained on about 7.5 trillion tokens. It is designed for tasks such as solving maths problems, writing code and reasoning through complex queries. Akashvani News
ZenteiQ’s two models are designed to retrieve information from documents and automate routine tasks, including in places where internet access is limited. Potential users include government departments, defence organisations, businesses and educational institutions.
Electronics and IT Secretary S. Krishnan said the public release would strengthen India’s ability to develop AI tools suited to domestic needs. He pointed to cybersecurity as one possible application and said the models could also run on systems isolated from external networks.
