ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan has expressed confidence that India will achieve the status of a developed nation by 2047, coinciding with the country’s 100th year of independence. He made the remarks while addressing the convocation ceremony at Calcutta University.
Narayanan, who was conferred the Deva Prasad Medal for his contributions to space research, said he is “absolutely confident” that India will become a developed nation before 2047. His statement aligns with the government’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’
Highlighting the role of higher education, Narayanan urged universities to focus on innovation, research, and global collaboration to drive national progress. He emphasized that India’s scientific achievements, particularly in space exploration, will play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future.
The ISRO chief also pointed to international cooperation projects such as the NASA-ISRO NISAR satellite mission, and outlined India’s ambitious plans for an indigenous space station and a crewed lunar mission. He said these initiatives will strengthen India’s global standing and accelerate its journey toward becoming a developed nation.
