Srinagar, August 25: Power demand across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is projected to increase by around 22 per cent over the next three years, reflecting rising electricity consumption in the two Union Territories.
The expected growth in demand is being attributed to increasing domestic consumption, expansion of commercial and industrial activities, infrastructure development and greater use of electricity-dependent appliances and services.
The projected rise in power requirement is likely to place additional pressure on the existing electricity network, making improvements in transmission and distribution infrastructure increasingly important.
Authorities and power agencies are expected to strengthen the power system to meet the growing requirement and ensure reliable electricity supply across both regions. Greater availability of power infrastructure will also be important for supporting economic development and emerging projects.
The anticipated increase in demand highlights the need for timely capacity enhancement, better grid management and adequate power availability to meet the future requirements of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
