Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, attended the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Akashvani Imphal, marking 60 years of dedicated public broadcasting service in the region. The event highlighted the station’s contributions to cultural preservation, regional news dissemination, and community engagement.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Bhalla praised Akashvani Imphal for its role in promoting local languages and traditions, and for serving as a vital communication link between the government and the people. He emphasized the importance of public broadcasting in fostering unity and informed citizenship.
The celebration featured cultural performances, tributes from veteran broadcasters, and the unveiling of commemorative programs reflecting the station’s legacy. Senior officials from Prasar Bharati and All India Radio were also present to honor the milestone.
Akashvani Imphal began operations in 1965 and has since evolved into a key media institution in the Northeast, delivering news, education, and entertainment to diverse audiences across Manipur.
