Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal reviewed preparations for the upcoming Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to strengthen cleanliness and sanitation across the country. During the review, the Minister assessed the proposed activities and urged officials to ensure effective implementation and active public participation.
The campaign is expected to focus on cleanliness drives, sanitation awareness, waste management and community involvement, with government agencies, local bodies and citizens encouraged to work together. The Minister emphasised that the spirit of cleanliness should extend beyond campaign periods and become an integral part of everyday life.
Manohar Lal directed officials to undertake extensive awareness activities and ensure that sanitation initiatives reach communities across urban and rural areas. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging citizens, schools, institutions and local organisations to actively participate in cleanliness activities.
The review meeting also underlined the importance of proper waste segregation, scientific waste processing and maintaining clean public spaces. The Minister called for close monitoring of the campaign and timely completion of planned activities to make Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 a meaningful nationwide cleanliness initiative.
