Johannesburg, Nov 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of bilateral meetings with international leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in South Africa, reaffirming India’s commitment to global cooperation and sustainable development.
During his engagements, Modi met with leaders from the United Kingdom, France, Malaysia, South Korea, Brazil, and the United Nations, discussing issues ranging from trade and technology to climate action and multilateral reform. He also interacted with the Director-General of the World Health Organization to review ongoing global health initiatives.
The meetings underscored India’s proactive diplomacy and its role as a bridge between developed and developing nations. Leaders exchanged views on strengthening partnerships, enhancing resilience against global challenges, and advancing inclusive growth.
The G20 Summit, hosted in Johannesburg, marks the first time the forum has convened on the African continent. The summit’s theme, “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability,” reflects collective priorities including disaster resilience, debt sustainability, energy transition, and youth empowerment.
India’s participation highlighted its strategic vision for global progress, with Modi proposing initiatives on sustainable development, countering the drug-terror nexus, and creating a global repository of traditional knowledge.
