Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, reviewed the security preparedness across the Union Territory ahead of Independence Day celebrations. Chairing high-level meetings with senior officers, he emphasized multi-layered deployment, enhanced surveillance, and strict monitoring at sensitive locations.
The DGP directed district police chiefs to ensure round-the-clock patrolling, intensified checking at entry and exit points, and coordination with paramilitary forces. Special focus has been laid on Srinagar and other district headquarters hosting official functions, with drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring integrated into the security grid.
Prabhat also stressed community cooperation, urging citizens to remain vigilant and support security checks. He highlighted the importance of joint control rooms for real-time monitoring and swift response to any untoward incident.
Authorities confirmed that additional personnel have been deployed at venues of flag hoisting, parades, and cultural programs. Security forces have been instructed to maintain high alert to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of Independence Day events across J&K.
The review underlines the administration’s commitment to safeguarding public celebrations, reinforcing confidence among citizens as the Valley gears up for the national festivities.
