NEW DELHI, Nov 27: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said that the ancient Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the world is one family — has become even more relevant today as nations grapple with complex global challenges. She emphasized that cooperative solutions rooted in shared humanity are essential for a peaceful and sustainable future.
Addressing a gathering at an event in New Delhi, President Murmu said that interconnected crises such as climate change, economic instability, conflict, and pandemics demand collective effort and mutual understanding among nations. She noted that India’s civilizational ethos offers a guiding framework for nurturing harmony and cooperation at the global level.
The President highlighted India’s role in promoting inclusive dialogue and humanitarian values on international platforms, reaffirming that the country will continue working toward global peace, prosperity, and equitable development. She added that the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” guided India’s leadership during the G20 presidency and continues to shape the nation’s foreign policy outlook.
President Murmu said the world must adopt perspectives that transcend borders, cultures, and ideologies to address emerging threats effectively. She also called on individuals and societies to foster compassion and responsibility in everyday life, reinforcing the idea that humanity’s well-being is interconnected.
She concluded that reaffirming the principle of a shared global family is not only a moral responsibility but also a practical necessity in today’s turbulent times.
