Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) auction portal on June 23 in New Delhi. The digital platform is designed to streamline agricultural trade by enabling transparent, real-time auctions of farm produce, benefiting both farmers and buyers.
Officials stated that the portal will enhance efficiency in procurement and marketing, reduce middlemen intervention, and ensure better price discovery for farmers. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push toward digital transformation in agriculture and cooperative sectors.
The NAFED auction portal will initially focus on commodities such as pulses, oilseeds, and horticultural produce, with plans to expand coverage to other crops. The system integrates secure payment gateways, bidder verification, and live monitoring features to safeguard transactions.
Minister Shah emphasized that the launch marks a significant step in empowering farmers through technology-driven solutions, aligning with the government’s vision of “Digital India” and “Doubling Farmers’ Income.”
NAFED officials added that training sessions and awareness campaigns will be conducted to familiarize farmers and cooperatives with the portal’s operations, ensuring widespread adoption across states.
