The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a major international drug trafficking network operating across Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of 77.6 kg of hashish oil and 2 kg of charas, valued at nearly ₹10 crore.
According to officials, the contraband was being smuggled from Nepal through India and routed to Sri Lanka via southern sea corridors. The crackdown was carried out by NCB’s Chennai and Hyderabad Zonal Units, highlighting the growing use of South India as a transit hub for cross-border drug trafficking.
The arrests include suspects from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and a Sri Lankan refugee. Authorities believe the syndicate was reviving an old smuggling route, prompting intensified surveillance under the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative. Investigations are underway to trace links to organized crime networks and financing channels.
