The PDP women’s wing on Monday staged a protest in Srinagar against the proposed hike in power tariffs, expressing concern over the impact the move would have on ordinary consumers. The protestors gathered near the party headquarters and raised slogans demanding a rollback of the proposal.
Party leaders said the tariff hike would put an additional burden on households already struggling with rising living costs. They urged the administration to reconsider the decision and explore alternatives that would not affect the poor and middle-income groups.
The protest also highlighted issues such as irregular power supply and frequent outages, with the PDP women’s wing calling for comprehensive reforms in the electricity sector to ensure reliable and affordable services for all residents.
The party reiterated its commitment to raising public issues and said it would continue to oppose policies that adversely affect the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
