Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has underlined the importance of greater citizen participation in India’s democratic processes, stressing that democracy thrives when people actively engage in governance and decision-making.
Speaking at a public event, the Speaker highlighted that India’s strength lies in its inclusive democratic framework, where every voice contributes to shaping the nation’s future. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to take part in debates, discussions, and electoral processes to strengthen democratic institutions.
Om Birla emphasized that democracy is not limited to casting votes but extends to continuous involvement in civic life, policy awareness, and constructive dialogue. He noted that greater participation ensures accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in governance.
The Speaker also pointed out that India’s parliamentary system is designed to reflect the aspirations of its people, and active participation is essential to uphold the values of justice, equality, and liberty enshrined in the Constitution.
