The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that there is no proposal under consideration regarding the construction of a Middle East–India deep water pipeline.
Officials stated that while India continues to explore avenues for strengthening energy security and diversifying supply routes, no formal plan or project has been initiated for such a pipeline. The clarification comes amid speculation in media and industry circles about possible transnational energy infrastructure projects linking the Gulf region with India.
The Ministry emphasized that India remains committed to enhancing energy cooperation with Middle Eastern partners through existing frameworks, including crude oil imports, LNG contracts, and renewable energy collaborations, but the idea of a deep water pipeline is not currently on the agenda.
This statement aims to dispel rumors and reaffirm that India’s energy strategy continues to focus on practical, ongoing projects rather than speculative proposals.
