Mumbai, November 6, 2025 — Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has stated that Indian banks have evolved considerably over the past decade, demonstrating greater maturity, resilience, and operational strength in navigating economic challenges.
Speaking at a financial sector conference, the Governor highlighted improvements in risk management, digital adoption, and regulatory compliance across public and private banking institutions. He noted that the sector’s ability to withstand global shocks and support inclusive growth reflects its enhanced institutional capacity.
Das credited reforms in governance, capital adequacy, and supervisory frameworks for strengthening the banking ecosystem. He also emphasized the role of technology in improving customer service, financial inclusion, and fraud prevention.
