The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions across several parts of Gujarat, as temperatures continue to rise sharply much earlier than usual. Many districts are witnessing maximum temperatures crossing the 40°C mark, significantly above the seasonal average.
According to the IMD, severe heat wave conditions are likely to persist in parts of Saurashtra-Kutch and North Gujarat, while other regions may experience heat wave conditions over the next few days. Cities such as Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surendranagar, and Bhuj are among those facing intense heat, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The weather department has advised residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay well hydrated, and take extra care of children, elderly people, and those with existing health conditions. Authorities have also urged people to follow heat safety guidelines as the extreme temperatures are expected to continue in the short term.
The IMD noted that while a slight drop in temperatures may occur later, overall conditions will remain hot, indicating an early onset of summer-like weather in the state.
