New Delhi, Dec 02: The Government of India has issued directions for the pre-installation of the Sanchar Saathi App on mobile handsets, aiming to enhance digital security and provide users with convenient access to telecom services. Officials stated that the move is part of a broader effort to strengthen mobile network safety and streamline communication services for consumers.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) clarified that the Sanchar Saathi App will offer features such as device verification, tracking of lost or stolen phones, and secure access to telecom-related information. By pre-installing the app on mobile devices, the government seeks to make these services readily available to all users without requiring separate downloads.
Government officials emphasised that the initiative is designed to safeguard consumers and reduce risks associated with mobile fraud, phone theft, and unauthorised usage. The directive also aligns with India’s ongoing push towards digital empowerment and secure communication infrastructure.
Authorities have instructed handset manufacturers and service providers to ensure compliance with the directive, enabling seamless integration of the Sanchar Saathi App on new devices. Users will be able to access the app’s features immediately upon activating their mobile handsets.
Officials reiterated that the pre-installation of the Sanchar Saathi App is part of the government’s commitment to combining technology with public safety, providing citizens with a reliable and secure tool for managing their mobile devices and telecom-related concerns.
