New Delhi, December 25, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu released the Constitution of India in Santhali language at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a historic step towards inclusivity and linguistic diversity. The initiative aims to make the nation’s founding document accessible to Santhali-speaking citizens and promote awareness of constitutional values among tribal communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Murmu emphasized that the translation of the Constitution into Santhali reflects India’s commitment to cultural preservation and empowerment of indigenous languages. She noted that the effort will strengthen democratic participation and ensure that constitutional rights and duties are understood by all sections of society.
The release event was attended by senior officials, representatives of tribal organizations, and scholars who contributed to the translation work. The Santhali version has been prepared with accuracy and cultural sensitivity to preserve the essence of the original text.
