Indian equity markets opened the new financial year on a strong note, with the Sensex soaring over 1,800 points and the Nifty climbing more than 2% in early trade.
The rally was driven by easing geopolitical tensions and positive global cues, which lifted investor sentiment after a volatile March.
Banking, auto, and IT stocks led the gains, while mid-cap and small-cap indices also advanced sharply, reflecting broad-based market strength.
By mid-session, the Sensex was trading around 73,800, up nearly 1,900 points, while the Nifty crossed 22,900, marking one of the biggest single-day gains in recent months.
Analysts said the rebound signals renewed confidence at the start of FY26–27, though they cautioned that global developments will continue to influence short-term market trends.
