Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for establishing a common Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) structure across the country, directing state police chiefs to implement it at the earliest.
Speaking at the Anti-Terrorism Conference 2025 in New Delhi, organized by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Home Minister emphasized the need for a uniform ATS framework to strengthen India’s counter-terrorism preparedness.
The standardized ATS structure, developed by the NIA, has already been shared with state police forces. It aims to provide uniform training, coordination, and operational readiness against terror threats.
Shah urged Directors General of Police (DGPs) to adopt the framework quickly, stressing the importance of building a nationwide anti-terror grid that is impenetrable and future-ready.
He also highlighted the government’s vision of a “360-degree strike” strategy against organized crime, linking terror financing and criminal networks, to ensure comprehensive national security.
The initiative underscores India’s commitment to eliminating disparities in state-level preparedness, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, and building resilience against evolving terror threats.
