JAMMU: Chief Minister has clarified that admissions to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) are strictly based on merit and not influenced by religion. The statement comes in response to recent allegations suggesting bias in the admission process.
The CM emphasised that the institution follows transparent procedures aligned with national medical education standards, ensuring equal opportunity for all eligible candidates. He reiterated that merit remains the sole criterion for selection and categorically rejected claims of religious discrimination.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to fairness and accountability in higher education, the CM assured that any attempt to politicise or communalise the admission process will not be tolerated. He stressed that the administration is dedicated to maintaining the credibility of SMVDIME as a premier medical institute in the Union Territory.
The clarification aims to restore public confidence in the admission process and reaffirm the government’s resolve to uphold meritocracy in educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
