A Hindu grocery shop owner, Sarat Mani Chakraborty, was attacked with sharp weapons and killed late Monday night in Narsingdi city, Bangladesh. The incident occurred at Charsindhur Bazar in Palash Upazila, raising fresh concerns over targeted violence against minority communities.
According to police, unidentified assailants attacked Chakraborty around 10–11 pm, leaving him fatally injured at the scene. The killing marks the sixth fatal attack on members of the Hindu community in just 18 days, highlighting a disturbing pattern of violence.
Earlier the same day, Hindu journalist and factory owner Rana Pratap was shot dead in Jessore district, underscoring the rising insecurity faced by minorities in different parts of the country.
Community leaders and civil society organizations have condemned the attacks, demanding immediate arrests and stronger protection measures for vulnerable groups. Authorities have assured that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The recent spate of killings has sparked widespread fear among Hindus in Bangladesh, with calls for urgent government intervention to safeguard minority rights and prevent further violence.
