The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a severe heatwave in Himachal Pradesh today, with hot weather conditions expected across Gujarat, Goa, and Rajasthan.
According to IMD, hot and humid weather will prevail in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, while Vidarbha and Konkan regions will also experience above-normal temperatures.
In sharp contrast, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, raising concerns of localized flooding.
Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and several northeastern states, potentially disrupting travel and daily activities.
IMD has advised residents in heatwave-affected regions to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and take necessary precautions against heat stress.
