Varanasi, June 2: India will host the Second BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting on June 4–5, 2026, under its Chairship. Delegates from 11 BRICS member nations will gather to strengthen cultural cooperation and explore shared priorities.
The agenda will highlight three focus areas: the creative economy and the role of AI in culture, safeguarding cultural heritage and addressing the return of cultural property, and the link between culture, climate change, and sustainable development. Five thematic panels are scheduled to deepen these discussions.
Officials said the event reflects India’s vision of resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability in cultural exchange. The meeting is expected to enhance people‑to‑people ties and encourage ethical practices in creative industries.
Varanasi, chosen as the venue, represents India’s living heritage. Known as one of the world’s oldest cities, it embodies continuity of tradition and spiritual depth, making it a fitting backdrop for the BRICS dialogue.
The Second CWG follows the first meeting held virtually in April 2026. India will also host the third CWG in Bhopal in August, alongside the BRICS Cultural Festival and Ministers’ Meeting, further cementing its leadership in cultural cooperation.
