Prime Minister Narendra Modi today recalled the courage and supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, on the occasion of Veer Baal Diwas. Addressing the nation, he said their martyrdom continues to inspire generations to uphold the values of faith, resilience, and justice.
Veer Baal Diwas is observed annually on December 26 to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, who, at a tender age, chose death over renouncing their faith. Their sacrifice remains one of the most poignant chapters in India’s history.
PM Modi highlighted that the Sahibzades’ bravery serves as a guiding light for the nation, reminding citizens of the importance of standing firm against oppression. He urged people, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from their lives and contribute positively to society.
The Prime Minister also noted that Veer Baal Diwas is not only a day of remembrance but also an occasion to instill values of courage, sacrifice, and righteousness in future generations. He emphasised that the legacy of the Sahibzades is a source of strength for India’s cultural and spiritual identity.
Commemorative events were held across the country, with tributes offered at gurdwaras, schools, and community centres. Educational institutions organised special sessions to teach students about the Sahibzades’ sacrifice, ensuring that their story continues to resonate in public memory.
Veer Baal Diwas stands as a solemn reminder of the price paid for freedom of conscience and the enduring spirit of resistance against injustice, with the Sahibzades’ martyrdom etched forever in the nation’s collective heritage.
