The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee maintains a soft corner for infiltrators. Party leaders claimed that her government’s policies and statements reflect leniency towards illegal entrants, raising concerns over national security and demographic balance.
Addressing a press conference, BJP representatives accused the state administration of failing to take adequate measures against infiltration and asserted that such an approach undermines the interests of local citizens. They argued that unchecked infiltration poses challenges to law and order, employment, and social harmony.
The remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP over issues of governance and security. The BJP has reiterated its demand for stricter enforcement of border controls and stronger action against illegal migration.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leaders have dismissed the allegations, describing them as politically motivated and aimed at diverting attention from pressing developmental issues. They maintained that the state government remains committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of all residents.
The issue of infiltration has long been a contentious subject in West Bengal politics, often surfacing during electoral campaigns and policy debates. The latest allegations are expected to intensify the political discourse in the state ahead of upcoming polls.
