The sacred Adi Kailash Yatra begins today, May 1, 2026, in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, with thousands of devotees expected to participate.
Organized by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), the pilgrimage will cover Adi Kailash (Chhota Kailash) and Om Parvat, revered as Lord Shiva’s abode and a spiritual symbol of “ॐ” formed in snow.
The yatra route includes Haldwani, Tanakpur, Dharchula, Gunji, Nabhidang, and Jyolingkong, along with visits to Kaichi Dham, Jageshwar, and Patal Bhuvaneshwar.
Packages cost around ₹45,000 per person for nine days, including travel, accommodation, meals, and permits. Pilgrims must carry Aadhaar, medical fitness certificates, Inner Line Permits, and insurance.
The district administration has strengthened healthcare, security, and infrastructure, ensuring smooth conduct of the yatra, which is expected to see high footfall this year.
