The United States military has carried out major strikes against Iran, targeting the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and key elements of the Iranian Navy. U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces have destroyed and sunk nine Iranian naval ships and largely destroyed the country’s naval headquarters amid escalating hostilities in the Middle East.
Trump said that the nine vessels, some described as relatively large and important, were sunk during the operations and that U.S. forces are going after the rest of Iran’s naval assets. He added that the naval headquarters, a critical command facility, was significantly damaged in a separate attack.
