Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed officials to conduct a detailed assessment of crop damage caused by recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms across several states. The minister emphasized that immediate evaluation is necessary to ensure timely relief measures for affected farmers.
Chouhan stated that the government is committed to supporting the farming community and will take swift action once the reports are submitted. He instructed state agricultural departments to coordinate with local administrations to gather accurate data on the extent of damage to standing crops.
The minister highlighted that unseasonal weather events have severely impacted farmers in multiple regions, particularly those cultivating wheat, mustard, and horticultural crops. He assured that compensation and assistance will be provided under existing relief frameworks to minimize losses.
Officials have been asked to expedite field surveys and submit findings at the earliest so that financial aid and support packages can be rolled out without delay. The ministry is also monitoring weather patterns to prepare for further contingencies.
Chouhan reiterated that safeguarding farmers’ interests remains a top priority for the government, and all necessary steps will be taken to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions on agricultural livelihoods.
