Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that plans are underway to develop a major industrial corridor in Puducherry, signalling a significant push toward boosting investment and job creation in the Union Territory. Addressing a public rally in Karaikal, he highlighted the Centre’s commitment to accelerating industrial growth in the region.
The announcement aligns with ongoing development activity in Puducherry, where a 750‑acre stretch of land in the Sedarapet–Karasur belt is already being prepared for industrial expansion. The land has been transferred to the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation Limited (PIPDIC), marking a key step toward establishing large‑scale industrial clusters.
Shah’s remarks come amid broader efforts by the Puducherry government to attract investment, including plans for a new 750‑acre industrial estate announced earlier by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy. The initiative aims to enhance manufacturing capacity and generate employment opportunities across the UT.
The Union Minister said the proposed industrial corridor would further strengthen Puducherry’s economic landscape and complement the Centre’s vision of expanding industrial infrastructure across coastal and strategically located regions.
