Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today inaugurated the Sansad Khel MahaKumbh at KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow, marking the beginning of a three-day sports festival that brings together thousands of athletes from across the region.
The event features more than 2,400 participants competing in a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, football, volleyball, kabaddi, taekwondo, basketball, hockey, and boxing. Traditional demonstrations such as Mallakhamb, Kalaripayattu, and Yoga are also part of the program, highlighting India’s rich sporting heritage.
Organized in two phases, the Sansad Khel MahaKumbh aims to promote grassroots talent, encourage youth participation in sports, and integrate cultural traditions with modern athletic competitions.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of sports in building discipline, teamwork, and national pride. He noted that the festival provides a vital platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and aspire to higher levels of competition.
The Defence Minister’s three-day visit to Lucknow includes multiple public programs, reinforcing his commitment to youth development and community engagement in his constituency.
