The Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR) has officially begun in Mizoram, with the Election Department launching the exercise on May 19, 2026. The revision aims to update and verify voter lists across all constituencies in the state ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
Officials stated that the exercise will include addition of new eligible voters, deletion of names of deceased or shifted individuals, and correction of existing entries to ensure accuracy. Booth-level officers have been deployed to assist citizens in filling forms and submitting necessary documents.
The revision process will continue for several weeks, with special camps organized at polling stations and community centers to facilitate public participation. Awareness drives are also being conducted to encourage young voters, especially those turning 18, to register.
The Election Commission has emphasized transparency and inclusivity, urging political parties, civil society groups, and local leaders to support the process. Digital platforms and voter helplines have been activated to provide guidance and track applications.
Mizoram’s Chief Electoral Officer highlighted that the updated rolls will play a crucial role in ensuring free and fair elections, reflecting the true democratic spirit of the state. The final revised rolls are expected to be published later this year.
